Jones Day partner Corinne Ball honored with New York Law Journal's Lifetime Achievement Award
Jones Day Business Restructuring & Reorganization partner Corinne Ball received the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York Law Journal (NYLJ) for making "an impact on the legal community and the practice of law over an entire career." The NYLJ announced its 2020 awards on June 30, will feature the recipients in its upcoming Professional Excellence Magazine, and will honor them at the New York Legal Awards on October 27. The NYLJ also recognized Jones Day Financial Markets Practice Leader Jayant Tambe with a 2020 Distinguished Leader Award.
Ms. Ball has nearly 40 years of experience in business finance and restructuring, with a focus on complex corporate reorganizations and distressed acquisitions. She co-leads the New York Office's Business Restructuring & Reorganization Practice and leads the Firm's European Distress Investing and Alternative Capital Initiatives. She also leads the Firm's distressed M&A efforts and is the featured "Distress M&A" columnist for the NYLJ.
In her career, Ms. Ball has successfully put together numerous unprecedented deals, saving companies in prominent American industries such as automotive, banking, and real estate. She is known for building consensus among various participants, including unions, lenders, investors, bondholders, and executives, and for her considerable courtroom skills. She worked extensively on the City of Detroit's $18.5 billion restructuring and led a team of attorneys representing Chrysler in its historic chapter 11 reorganization.
Ms. Ball is recognized annually as a leader in the restructuring field by Chambers & Partners, K&A Restructuring Register, Legal 500, and others. She has also been recognized by The National Law Journal as the "Most Influential Lawyer of the Decade in Bankruptcy & Restructuring," by Turnaround Management Association with its "International Turnaround Company of the Year" Award, and was named "Dealmaker of the Year" by The American Lawyer.
