Jones Day partners David C. Kiernan and Craig Waldman have been named to the Daily Journal's 2020 list of 'Top Antitrust Lawyers' in California. The Daily Journal compiled its annual list from hundreds of nominations submitted by lawyers statewide, with the honorees selected by editors based on the impact of their work in plaintiffs, defense, and government antitrust work.
David Kiernan, who is the Partner-in-Charge of the Firm's Northern California Region, represents clients in high-stakes antitrust litigation, arbitrations, and government investigations, across industries with a particular focus on tech, energy, and health care. Clients also rely on David for counseling on antitrust and competition law issues, including interoperability, discounting, bundling, and pricing. Currently, David is lead counsel for Sutter Health in parallel class actions in state and federal court alleging tying and monopolization; lead counsel for a large refining company in class actions pending in state and federal courts alleging price fixing among eight refiners; and lead counsel for a railroad company challenging no-poach agreements.
Mr. Waldman, who co-chairs Jones Day's 140 lawyer Global Antitrust & Competition Law Practice, is regularly chosen by industry-leading companies to advise on their most complex antitrust transactions, investigations and counseling matters. He led the Jones Day team serving as worldwide antitrust counsel to NVIDIA Corporation in its acquisition of Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. Mr. Waldman also led the global Jones Day team that represented Wabtec Corporation in its $11.1 billion rail industry merger, steering Wabtec through antitrust investigations across a number of jurisdictions, including a U.S. Department of Justice review.
