Larissa Bergin Elected Chair of NYSBA's Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Law Section
Larissa Bergin, a partner in Jones Day's Antitrust & Competition Law Practice, was elected chair of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Law Section of the New York State Bar Association. Ms. Bergin will serve as chair-elect until June 2020 and will serve as chair from June 2020-June 2022. Ms. Bergin has held several leadership positions in the section, including serving as the Section's secretary since 2016.
Ms. Bergin advises clients on antitrust concerns arising from M&A matters, joint ventures, federal and state investigations, and commercial practices. She is an experienced advocate before governments across Asia, the European Union, and North America on behalf of clients across a range of international industries, including technology, health care, retail, and pharmaceutics.
The Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Law Section of the New York State Bar Association was established in 1945 as the first committee in the nation to hold professional education programs on developments in law concerning the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act of 1938 ("Act"). The Section provides guidance on a variety of issues, including drug and biologics approvals, intellectual property protections, legislative and administrative developments, ramifications of amendments to the Act, enforcement procedures, marketing in interstate commerce, advertising compliance, and product liability. Committees of the Section include drugs, biologics, cosmetics, tobacco, medical devices, animal health, and food and dietary supplements.
