The European Patent Office (EPO) is hosting a seminar about new technologies and the tremendous changes in the automotive and mobility sector. Hybrid and electric vehicles should make the roads greener, artificial intelligence (AI) and other Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies are making vehicles more connected than ever before, and autonomous vehicles have the potential to change the way of mobility forever.

Key topics include:

  • The latest developments at the EPO
  • The latest trends in automated vehicles
  • Patenting the computer-implemented inventions and AI in automotive technologies

Jones Day partner Prof. Dr. Dorothée Weber-Bruls will be moderating the workshop "You're in control! Optimising the timeline of automotive patent applications worldwide."

The workshop will look at the various filing routes available to applicants, in particular for those based in the EU. It will deal with international applications as possible basis for European applications, as well as alternatives. This workshop will enable participants to draft and prosecute applications to gain the most value from the various alternatives as part of a global portfolio.
