Jones Day partner Stephen Obie will discuss legal issues that arise in the implementation of blockchain technology at the Blockland Solutions Conference, sponsored by Blockland Cleveland, on December 3-4.
The Blockland Solutions Conference is one of the first blockchain education conferences to provide experiential learning through hands-on coding and real-world problem solving, with a focus on solutions for business and government applications. The event will feature daily keynote presentations, industry-specific case studies, and real-world examples of how blockchain solves business challenges.
On December 4, Mr. Obie will give a presentation titled "Regulation of Tokenization: Legal and other considerations for evaluating blockchain and other tech solutions." His talk will include a detailed discussion of the numerous decisions, challenges, and legal issues pertaining to the adoption of blockchain, including the overall design and control of blockchain systems, potential liability for use or misuse of the data they contain, and the consequences of tracking data and transactions on an immutable, near–real time basis.
In addition, Mr. Obie will serve as a panelist for the "Block Study: Banking + Insurance" panel on December 3, which will discuss the high-level business challenges facing the banking and insurance industries.
