Joan McKown to participate on Bharara's new task force on insider trading
Joan McKown, a partner in Jones Day's Securities Litigation & SEC Enforcement Practice and based in the Firm's Washington Office, has been asked to participate on a newly formed task force on insider trading led by former Southern District of New York U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.
Mr. Bharara's task force will consist of eight distinguished former regulators, prosecutors, judges, academics, and defense lawyers who have agreed to develop specific proposals to update and improve the clarity of the federal insider trading laws.
Ms. McKown has more than 30 years of experience in Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") enforcement and financial regulatory matters including investigations, exams, internal investigations, and disputes. Prior to joining Jones Day in 2010, she was chief counsel in the Division of Enforcement at the SEC, where she played a key role in establishing enforcement policies while working closely with senior SEC staff.
