The National Law Journal Recognizes Three Jones Day Lawyers as "Winning Litigators" for 2018

The National Law Journal named Jones Day partners Christopher Morrison, Kate Wallace, and José Isasi to its list of Winning Litigators for 2018.

Mr. Morrison and Ms. Wallace are both based in Jones Day’s Boston Office and have substantial experience litigating and trying cases in a broad range of complex commercial matters in federal courts across the country and in the Massachusetts state courts. They were recognized together for their work for the Boston Red Sox in the first-ever "foul ball" trial in Massachusetts.

Jones Day prevailed on behalf of the Boston Red Sox in a two-week jury trial brought by a fan who was hit by a foul ball in an upper-level premium seating area of Fenway Park. The case was the first jury trial in Massachusetts regarding a foul ball injury, and included testimony by five experts in addition to several senior Red Sox executives. The jury took only a couple of hours to decide that the Red Sox were not negligent in their construction and maintenance of Fenway Park.

Reynolds Tobacco Company in a personal injury lawsuit.

Jones Day prevailed in an 11-day trial in Sarasota, Fla., when the jury returned a complete defense verdict in favor of client R.J. Reynolds. The plaintiff asserted claims for strict liability, negligence, fraudulent concealment, and conspiracy. He sought compensatory damages in the amount of $5 million and unspecified punitive damages. The jury deliberated for three hours before returning a complete defense verdict for R.J. Reynolds on all claims.
