Jones Day lawyer Elza Dauletshina coaches team to moot court win in Vienna

Elza Dauletshina, a Global Disputes associate in Jones Day's Moscow Office, was recognized as the coach of the team from the Moscow Higher School of Economics that won the prestigious Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court competition in Vienna on March 29, 2018. This is the first win by a Russian team in the 25-year history of the competition, where it competed against teams from top law schools including Columbia University in the quarter finals and Cambridge University in the finals.

In his opening speech at the VIII St. Petersburg International Legal Forum on May 16, 2018, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said: "I'm very happy that this year our team of Russian students won the biggest international legal competition in commercial arbitration named after Willem Vis for the first time competing against  360 other teams. This is a very good result. This achievement is an occasion for a certain pride. I am confident that this will not be the last victory." In congratulating Elza and her team during an award ceremony at the forum, the Russian Justice Minister Alexander Konovalov said: "The team of young Russian lawyers won a prestigious competition, which in fact is an analogue of the Nobel Prize for young people."
