Dr. Albert Wang's practice is focused on litigation and counseling related to Chinese intellectual property law. His practice includes patent, trademark, copyrights, trade secret, and unfair competition, as well as antimonopoly cases involving standard essential patents (SEPs) and fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory (FRAND) obligations.
Albert has extensive experience litigating IP-related cases for multinational companies from the pharmaceutical, biomedical, mechanical, chemical, electronics, and information technology sectors. He currently represents a high-tech mechanical company in prosecuting a series of patent infringement lawsuits, patent ownership disputes, declaratory judgment actions, and trade secret misappropriation cases against a local competitor. He has advised a top telecommunication company in a global dispute involving SEPs, FRAND obligations, and alleged antitrust issues. Prior to joining Jones Day, he worked at a top Chinese law firm, where he advised a brand name pharmaceutical company on a multifront strategy to protect its patented drug in China against generic competitors, defended a top sporting goods company in a trademark infringement lawsuit filed by a Chinese trademark owner, and represented a multinational chemical company against a local competitor for trade secret misappropriation covering the entire production process for certain chemical products.
Albert has also assisted clients in managing their IP portfolios, navigating regulatory compliance requirements, handling IP-related counseling, and transactional work.
