With more than 12 years of experience, Harmen Wielens advises fund managers, investment firms, pension funds, and their service providers on a range of financial regulatory and contractual topics. His main areas of focus are fund formations; financial regulation such as Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), Undertakings for the Collective Investment in Transferable Securities Directive (UCITSD), and Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID II); investment management; and outsourcing.
As a member of the Fund Structuring & Fund Services team, Harmen provides clients with fully integrated legal, tax, and regulatory advice regarding fund formation, fund reviews, fund M&A, fund litigation, investment joint ventures, and investment management.
He also has broad experience counseling clients on (pension fund) mandates, outsourcing arrangements, and applicable rules and regulations. Harmen has worked on a number of license applications for fund managers and investment firms and advises on the continuing obligations applicable to them.
