Sophie van de Graaff practices in all areas of dispute resolution and commercial contracting. Her practice focuses on complex and cross-border commercial and corporate litigation, including shareholder disputes and disputes related to directors' and professional liability, and she has significant experience with breach of contract, tort, and (cartel) damages claims.
Sophie's recent representations include advising an IT supplier in a dispute with a customer regarding an IT contract concerning the worldwide implementation of a new IT system; advising a client on the liability of its former directors in connection with a failing compliance and risk management system; representing a client in numerous legal proceedings involving a dispute over the directorship of three offshore funds; representing MKB Ondernemers in a matter against TomTom concerning the explanation of a co-existence agreement; and representing two investment funds in a claim regarding the revision of a plan designed to distribute funds to former shareholders of Yukos Oil.
Sophie is a contributor to Rechtspraak Contractenrecht, a leading Dutch legal journal on commercial contracting, and she regularly publishes on topics relevant to her practice.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2014, Sophie worked at an international law firm and a tier-one boutique firm.
Sophie has engaged in various pro bono activities throughout her career, and most recently worked with the Netherlands Red Cross.
