As a former public prosecutor, Aldo Verbruggen focuses his practice on financial and economic criminal law, including environmental, medical, and cyber & IT crime, corporate criminal defense, and corporate investigations. He has extensive experience advising on criminal and civil investigations and in defending clients in anticorruption, financial fraud, and securities.

Aldo held various managerial positions at the Dutch Prosecution Service and was involved in establishing the National Prosecutorial Expertise Centre for Fraud. He has successfully defended clients in several high-profile complex fraud and environmental cases. He regularly works with international corporations and their executive officers to provide guidance on compliance and corporate governance issues. Aldo is often consulted by professional and governmental organizations on compliance issues in general, including health and safety issues.

Jones Day has been retained by an international pharmaceutical company to conduct anti-corruption and anti-bribery risk assessments for over 35 countries.

Jones Day advised AURELIUS Equity Opportunities SE & Co. KGaA on the sale of its subsidiary Getronics to strategic investor Bottega Invest Co S.à.r.l. for €220 million (US$251.3 million) (enterprise value).

Total sells Atotech to The Carlyle Group for $3.2 billion
Jones Day advised Total in the $3.2 billion sale of specialty chemical affiliate Atotech B.V., a global manufacturer of high technology plating solutions, to The Carlyle Group.
