Tim Silvester focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and disputes in state and federal courts. His practice spans various industries, including energy, technology, and finance, and his experience includes litigating disputes involving commercial contracts, class actions, and bankruptcy.

Before joining Jones Day in 2021, Tim served in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps, where he handled high-stakes trials and litigation. Across five judicial districts, he served as lead counsel in 27 felony jury trials and litigated 135 dispositive motions. As a complex litigation team chief and senior legal counsel, Tim directed hundreds of criminal and administrative investigations and led a dual prosecution of senior officers in a procurement fraud case involving the third most discovery in JAG Corps history. In his final assignment at the Pentagon, Tim served as a trusted advisor to The Judge Advocate General of the U.S. Army and as an ambassador to the executive and legislative branches.

Tim's government service included advocating for adult and child victims of sexual abuse. As the inaugural senior special victim counsel for the 25th Infantry Division, Tim commanded an office of lawyers and paralegals and personally represented 85 special victims. At Jones Day, Tim draws on this experience in his pro bono work with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) and the Firm's Border Project, where he assists those claiming asylum and other immigration relief.

During his military service, Tim earned several prestigious decorations, including two Meritorious Service Medals, the Armed Forces Service Medal, and the Air Assault Badge. Tim maintains an active Top Secret clearance.
