Miranda Cherkas Sherrill joined our New Lawyers Group (NLG) in 2022. The NLG provides our newest lawyers with the opportunity to gain exposure to different practice areas and lawyering styles before making a commitment to a specific practice. Individuals in the NLG may focus on a particular area of practice, or compare practices, during their first year with Jones Day.

Miranda joined the Firm after completing appellate clerkships with the Supreme Court of Georgia and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Her student note was awarded Best Student Paper in the 2020 Antitrust Writing Awards by Concurrences and BYU Law's John S. Welch Award for Outstanding Writing. As a law school student, she helped draft merits briefs and petitions for certiorari before the U.S. Supreme Court as an intern for a boutique law firm in Washington, D.C. She also interned on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the Utah Supreme Court for Justice Thomas R. Lee, and with the Asia Area General Counsel for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During law school, Miranda was a management board member for the International Center for Law and Religion and received the Student Bar Association President's Award for service to the law school.

Miranda's pro bono experience includes drafting written pleadings in an asylum proceeding and participating in appeals as appointed counsel in the Fourth, Seventh, and Eleventh Circuits.
