Guilherme Schwartsmann focuses his practice on white collar defense in the United States and in Latin America.
Guilherme represents international clients in complex U.S. government investigations involving alleged Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, money laundering, and fraud violations. He frequently represents clients in meetings with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) related to high-profile matters in Latin America.
Prior to joining Jones Day in 2017, Guilherme worked as an attorney in São Paulo, Brazil on matters related to public procurement, commercial contracts, and disputes involving state entities. He also recently served as a legal trainee at the Energy Charter Secretariat in Brussels, where he handled international investment agreements related to infrastructure and energy projects. In addition, Guilherme worked as a visiting associate at the Office of the Quartet in Jerusalem, where he focused on the Gas for Gaza projects.
