David Smith represents clients in complex commercial litigation and government investigations involving high-value, cross-border issues. David has been lead counsel in several cases in federal court and is experienced in motion practice, depositions, and written discovery.
David has an active pro bono practice, focusing on the Firm's efforts to combat human trafficking. He has also had a lead role in representing women and children fleeing persecution in Latin America and seeking asylum in the United States.
Prior to joining Jones Day, David was an Attorney General Honors Attorney in the Washington, D.C. area, where he advised government agents in high-stakes national security investigations.
