Alan Seem's practice is concentrated on SEC-registered and Rule 144A/Regulation S securities offerings, M&A, venture capital and private equity investments, and going-private transactions. He has extensive experience in the Asia-Pacific region, having worked for 16 years in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai. He also regularly advises companies and their boards of directors on corporate governance matters, including SEC/stock exchange compliance and disclosure-related matters.

Alan has worked with private and public companies in a variety of industries, including e-commerce, media and social media, renewable energy, software, semiconductors, telecommunications, education, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, banking, automotive, real estate, retail, mining, oil and gas, machinery and manufacturing, and airlines. Prior to joining Jones Day in 2017, he handled IPO offerings for China Rapid Finance, Weibo, Renren, Simcere Pharmaceutical, SMIC, Giant Interactive, New Oriental Education, Nuokang Bio-pharma, SYSWIN, TAL Education, HiSoft Technology, BitAuto, Acquity Group, Solarfun, Acorn International, Ambow Education, and many others. He also has extensive experience with Hong Kong IPOs, including Metallurgical Corporation of China, Changsha Zoomlion Heavy Industry, China Mobile, Bank of China, Mianyang Xinchen Engine, China Netcom, Bank of Communications, China Coal, and Shanshui Cement.

In addition, Alan has handled various pro bono assignments, including for The Nature Conservancy.
