Derek Rodman focuses his practice on structuring investments that utilize state and federal new markets tax credits, historic tax credits, and low-income housing tax credits. He advises clients in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions and development projects utilizing traditional financing and equity funding sources. Derek also handles transactions in general corporate and real estate law.
Derek has experience representing financial institutions in closing dozens of transactions involving new markets tax credits in low-income communities across the county. He also represents financial institutions and developers in multi-tiered affordable housing transactions involving tax credit financing (including state and federal low income housing tax credits and state and federal historic tax credits). Derek also represents landlords and tenants in office and retail lease negotiations; national, regional, and local property owners in commercial real estate capital transactions including acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing; and financial institutions in commercial real estate and asset-based lending transactions. In addition, he has experience representing national, regional, and local property owners and business enterprises in real estate development, zoning, and permitting matters before local boards.
