Michael Meade advises investors and contractors on the development of energy and infrastructure projects worldwide, particularly in Southeast Asia. He has significant experience negotiating and drafting commercial agreements in relation to upstream and midstream oil and gas projects, such as production sharing contracts, joint operating agreements, and gas sales agreements, and he often assists companies in their dealings with host governments and state oil companies on oil and gas projects.
Prior to joining Jones Day, Michael practiced at an international law firm in the projects and development group, where he advised clients on the development of major petroleum refinery, petrochemical, and offshore gas field to power generation projects in Southeast Asia. In connection with those projects, he often advised on EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction), joint venture, and technology licensing matters and drafted project-related agreements such as product offtake agreements and power purchase agreements.
Michael is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and is Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 2 certified (December 2018).
