Evan McGinley counsels businesses and individuals in high-stakes commercial litigation, employment disputes, and government investigations. Evan's experience spans a broad spectrum of litigation activities, including taking depositions and preparing witnesses for questioning, drafting pleadings and motions, and overseeing all aspects of discovery. He has represented clients across a variety of industries, including aerospace, health care, media, and financial services.
Evan's recent matters include defending Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company in a national class action asserting civil claims under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and representing International Business Machines (IBM) in a toxic tort action. Prior to joining Jones Day, he practiced in the New York office of an international law firm, where he represented clients in matters involving breach of employment and commercial contracts, sexual harassment lawsuits, civil and criminal asset forfeiture, and compliance with state and federal laws, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
In his pro bono practice, Evan has represented individuals from Central America seeking asylum in the United States, indigent tenants in housing disputes, and prisoners in civil rights actions.
