Recognized as a Law360 Real Estate MVP, Bob Lee is an experienced and creative advisor. He co-heads Jones Day's Real Estate Practice worldwide and has spent more than 30 years representing real estate private equity investors and sponsors in global fund, REIT, and other capital formations and in investments into real estate companies and assets in the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia.

Bob leads cross-disciplinary and cross-border teams of real estate, private equity, M&A, finance, tax, and regulatory lawyers in complex equity and debt investments; joint ventures, co-investments, and fund formations; public and private real estate company mergers and acquisitions; asset management company buyouts; and large portfolio transactions.

Bob has represented clients such as Greystar Real Estate Partners, Henderson Park Capital Management, LaSalle Investment Management, Meyer Bergman Limited, Mill Creek Residential Trust, Orion Capital Managers, Transwestern Investment Group, and TriGate Capital in the formation of more than $30 billion in real estate private equity funds, joint ventures, separately managed accounts and co-investments, and more than $20 billion in portfolio acquisitions and dispositions and public and private real estate company mergers and acquisitions.

Bob serves on the board of trustees of the Chicago History Museum and the board of directors of After School Matters, a public/private partnership that provides after school and summer programming to Chicago Public High School students through paid apprenticeships and internships in the arts, technology, sports, and communications.

  • Greystar forms open ended core plus fund and acquires Monogram for approximately $4.4 billionJones Day advised Greystar Real Estate Partners on a number of related transactions culminating in the acquisition of Monogram Residential Trust, Inc. (a publicly traded REIT based in Plano, Texas), an owner, operator, and developer of luxury apartment communities with a significant presence in select coastal markets, in a transaction valued at approximately $4.4 billion, including the debt assumed or refinanced in connection with the transaction.
  • LaSalle acquires $7 billion Real Estate Multi-Manager business and management of €1.7 billion pan-European fund from Aviva InvestorsJones Day advised Jones Lang Lasalle Incorporated’s subsidiary LaSalle Investment Management on its agreement to acquire the entire Real Estate Multi-Manager (“REMM”) business of Aviva Investors and full ownership of the management of the Encore+ fund (“Encore+”).
