Sophia Kinally practices commercial litigation with an emphasis on civil fraud, asset tracing, and injunctive relief as well as on complex, cross-border disputes.
Her recent experience includes advising Arcadia Petroleum, a regulated crude oil trading company, in connection with its US$300m claim against former directors and associated companies for various dishonesty-based claims in the High Court. In connection with this matter, Sophia has worked on the resolution of the complex jurisdictional dispute brought by several of the defendants, which has involved a reference to the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and submissions before the UK Supreme Court.
In addition, Sophia has experience acting for a major corporation in connection with a high-profile and high-value multijurisdictional dispute regarding the allegedly corrupt sale of a lucrative oil exploration block in Nigeria; advising a regulated oil trading company in ongoing fraud proceedings it brought in Switzerland against members of its former management team; acting for a Manx company in connection with a contractual dispute relating to a US$19m financing of a Bombardier aircraft; and advising a high net worth individual in connection with a complex multijurisdictional fraud and asset tracing investigation.
