Amul Kalia's practice focuses on all aspects of privacy and cybersecurity. From pre-IPO companies to critical infrastructure sector entities, Amul works with a broad array of organizations.

Amul advises companies on compliance with privacy laws, particularly the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), and the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). He tailors his advice to clients' particular needs and takes the time to understand their business and operations. He represents clients seeking to recover from insurers their costs associated with responding to security incidents and defending against lawsuits and regulatory proceedings. Amul works with clients to design tailored incident response policies and advises on sector-specific security requirements and standards, including on National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and other applicable standards.

In law school, Amul externed with the California Attorney General's Privacy Unit and assisted with investigations and enforcement activities related to CCPA and its successor, the CPRA.

Before law school, Amul worked for the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), a leading nonprofit digital rights organization where he spoke and wrote about such issues as encryption, computer hacking laws, privacy rights at the United States border, and legislative proposals to strengthen privacy and cybersecurity laws at the state and federal levels.

Amul is committed to pro bono work. He represented a client in a Ninth Circuit immigration appeal and is currently helping another individual obtain asylum in the United States.
