Ryan Harmanis represents clients in complex matters ranging from bankruptcy to health care to nationwide class actions. Ryan's experience spans all stages of litigation, including discovery, writing dispositive motions, preparing witnesses to testify, and working with experts. He also briefs and argues cases on appeal and has argued three cases before the Ohio Supreme Court.
Ryan has experience defending some of the nation's largest companies in commercial litigation. He successfully defended a Fortune 100 company against multiple lawsuits in federal court — including a nationwide class action — and a subsidiary of a Fortune 500 company facing multiple False Claims Act lawsuits. He also represented a major energy producer in bankruptcy proceedings and a major Columbus company against a false advertising claim.
Before joining Jones Day, Ryan served as a Deputy Solicitor General for the State of Ohio as the Si Karas Fellow. While representing Ohio, he worked on several cases argued before the United States Supreme Court. Ryan also clerked for Judge Eric E. Murphy and for Judge David W. McKeague of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
