Juan Huertas focuses his practice on cross-border finance, M&A, and private equity transactions. He regularly represents financial institutions, project sponsors, developers, and corporate borrowers on cross-border lending transactions in Latin America, including project finance and bilateral corporate finance transactions. Juan also advises clients on domestic and cross-border M&A and private equity transactions in the United States and Latin America. He has represented clients in a wide range of industries, including energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, technology, telecommunications, and consumer goods.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2017, Juan was an M&A associate at two leading Colombian firms, where he participated in landmark regional transactions such as Grupo Sura's acquisition of Royal & Sunalliance's insurance operations in Latin America.

Juan has lectured on Colombian securities regulation at the Universidad Javeriana School of Law and has been an active member of the board of trustees of a Colombian nonprofit dedicated to providing elementary, middle, and high school education in underserved areas.
