Katie Gothard-Leigh's practice focuses on dispute resolution involving major resources, projects, and construction. She has significant experience acting for principals, contractors, and subcontractors in preparation for arbitration, litigation, and rapid adjudications under security for payment legislation. Katie also provides strategic advice to a range of domestic and international clients in the energy, resources, and infrastructure sectors.
Katie's recent experience includes acting for contractors and principals in relation to some of the largest project disputes in the Asia-Pacific region. She has particular experience in extension of time, variation, and delay claims on construction projects, as well as in statutory misleading or deceptive conduct claims.
Katie has recently worked for clients on a range of high-value onshore and offshore construction projects, with a focus on disputes relating to delay, changes in scope, defective works, and contracts involving international procurement of specialised equipment. She has represented clients in Supreme and Federal Court litigation proceedings as well as domestic and international commercial arbitration proceedings and has particular experience under the SIAC rules.
Katie has provided pro bono assistance in a variety of matters while at the Firm and is a member of the Jones Day Perth Pro Bono Committee.

Jones Day acted for Monadelphous KT Pty Ltd. in proceedings in the Supreme Court of Western Australia (and two adjudications) concerning the construction of the Fortescue River Gas Pipeline Project, a 270km pipeline connecting the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline to Fortescue Metal’s Solomon Hub mine.
