Cherine Foty focuses her practice on international commercial and investment arbitration under a range of arbitral rules and applicable laws. She has represented clients on matters before major institutions as well as in ad hoc arbitrations and in litigation disputes. She has particular experience in gas pricing arbitration, franchise disputes, banking and corporate arbitrations, as well as related litigation for the implementation of conservatory measures and the enforcement and annulment of arbitral awards.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2015, Cherine was a professor of law at Université Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and served as a faculty legal researcher at the Institute of Comparative Law in Paris.

Cherine is a member of the board of directors of ArbitralWomen. She is also an active member of the young international arbitration groups of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA), French Arbitration Committee (CFA), International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), and International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR). Cherine frequently speaks at international arbitration conferences and has published articles on numerous legal subjects in law journals as well as on the Kluwer Arbitration Blog.
