Mercedes Crespo has more than 20 years of experience advising companies and investment funds on an extensive range of domestic and cross-border corporate and M&A transactions.
Mercedes has assisted international and local clients on corporate restructurings, joint ventures, divestitures, buyouts, and other private equity transactions as well as foreign investments across a wide variety of sectors such as industrial, automotive, financial, health care, and telecommunications.
Mercedes has participated in numerous national and multijurisdictional M&A transactions in collaboration with other Jones Day offices. Recent representative examples include, among others, advising Sanofi in the dissolution of a pan-European joint venture with Merck & Co.; Aalberts Industries in the sale of its heat treatment business in Zaragoza (Spain); and Total SA in the acquisition by the French group Arkema, one of the world's major players in specialty chemicals, of its Bostik affiliate, a global adhesives company.
Mercedes acts as secretary to the board of directors for many Firm clients such as Steris Corporation, Grass Valley, Deb Group, Aalberts Industries (and all its subsidiaries in Spain), and BCP Securities, providing advice in corporate and commercial matters.
Mercedes is also an active member of the pro bono practice in Madrid, currently advising Fundación Fabretto, which supports educating children in Nicaragua, in all of its legal issues.
