Eliza Collopy's practice is focused on matters arising out of corporate insolvencies and on major projects in the energy and resources sector. In addition to formal disputes she provides advice on projects with the aim of avoiding or minimizing claims and disputes.
Eliza is experienced in domestic and international arbitration seated in Western Australia and Singapore. Her recent experience includes representing an international mining contractor in a six-week arbitration seated in Singapore relating to a complex construction dispute exceeding $1 billion.
She is currently acting for the Insurance Commission of Western Australia in relation to the collapse of the Bell Group and the consequent distribution proceedings in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
Eliza's practice in commercial disputes has given her particular experience in a range of dispute resolution methods (including mediation, expert determination, and arbitration), evidence gathering, trial preparation, electronic discovery, and the use of e-trial software to streamline the resolution of commercial disputes.
