Austin Ball represents clients in complex intellectual property litigation as well as in transactional matters. His experience spans a range of practice areas, including patent litigation, trade secret disputes, technology transactions, and corporate law. He has experience in various stages of litigation and transactional matters, including factual investigation, due diligence, drafting complaints, discovery, and motion practice.

Austin maintains an active pro bono practice and has represented refugees through Jones Day's Laredo Project. He is also a member of the San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Austin acquired substantial knowledge in engineering principles and various technologies during his graduate program in biomedical engineering and during his work experiences at Teledyne RD Instruments and Helix Brewing Company.
