Emily Abbey joined our New Lawyers Group (NLG) in 2021. The NLG provides our newest lawyers with the opportunity to gain exposure to different practice areas and lawyering styles before making a commitment to a specific practice. Individuals in the NLG may focus on a particular area of practice, or compare practices, during their first year with Jones Day.
Emily's practice focuses on representing Firm clients in civil litigation in federal and state courts. She has experience in various stages of litigation, including motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation.
Emily also maintains an active pro bono practice through the Firm's Border Project and Constitutional Policing and Civil Justice Reform Initiative.
During law school, Emily acquired substantial legal research and writing experience through an externship with Judge Josephine Staton in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California. She was also a Research Fellow to Professor Henry Weinstein, helping teach legal writing to first year students, and was a finalist in UCI Law's moot court competition.
