Zaki Anwar represents clients at all stages of litigation focusing on appellate advocacy, motions practice, and trial strategy. He practices across several substantive areas, including consumer protection, environmental law, products liability, public nuisance, False Claims Act, and civil RICO. Zaki maintains an active pro bono practice, with an emphasis on immigration, criminal defense, and gun control. He serves on the Diversity, Inclusion and Advancement Committee of the Columbus Office. Zaki has been recognized by Columbus Business First's "People on the Move."
Zaki is an adjunct professor at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he teaches a class on the nature and significance of state constitutional law, comparing rights protected by state constitutions to those protected by the federal constitution.
Before joining Jones Day, Zaki was the assistant voting rights counsel for the Ohio Democratic Party, where he strategized litigation to increase access to absentee ballot and early voting options for the 2020 general election. Before law school, he served as an investment banking analyst at Citigroup and a private equity analyst at Fort Washington Capital Partners.
Zaki served as a judicial clerk for Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. of the U.S. Supreme Court, Judge Sri Srinivasan of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and Judge Jeffrey S. Sutton of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Zaki serves on the board of Netcare Access, a mental health and substance abuse crisis intervention center in Columbus, and the Seven Hills School Alumni Association. He is also active in his mosque, the Noor Islamic Cultural Center.
