Nate Andrews is a district court and appellate lawyer who focuses on intellectual property and technology litigation. He has experience in every stage of the patent life cycle, from drafting patent applications and seeing those applications issue to licensing, invalidity, infringement, and appeals.

Nate leverages his deep technical background, which includes degrees in electrical and computer engineering, in representing technology companies in a wide range of industries, from cloud computing and services to software, semiconductors, analog and digital electronics, telecommunications, blockchain, and medical devices. He has particular experience handling patent validity and infringement. He uses his technical fluency, deep experience in patent law, and firsthand experience as an entrepreneur and researcher to understand the needs of clients in any technical field and provide critical counsel with consideration for the whole business. Nate has drafted briefs at the appellate level and has contributed to filings at the Supreme Court.

Before joining Jones Day in 2019, Nate worked for a number of years at a firm focused on patent law where he prosecuted scores of patents from initial draft through to patent grant. During law school (2016-2019), Nate co-founded a neurosurgical device company that is developing improved technologies for one of the most common neurosurgical procedures. Prior to beginning work in patent law in 2012, Nate conducted academic research from 2008 to 2012 across multiple technical fields from microscale sensors and semiconductor simulation and manufacturing to robot assisted surgery, neuroscience, and material properties of particulate matter.
