Jones Day's Amsterdam Office

8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. - Registration/Breakfast
8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. - Roundtable
10:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. - Coffee

This breakfast roundtable will discuss the Dutch Balanced Labor Market Act (Wet Arbeidsmarkt in Balans), effective 1 January 2020, and other legislative changes entering into force this year.

We will focus on implications that are most relevant for your daily operations, such as the additional termination ground in practice, new employment contracts for on-call employees, and the calculation method for the transition payment. We will also discuss the Dutch Supreme Court's recent ruling on "dormant employment agreements" and Compensation for Transition Payment Regulations (Regeling Compensatie Transitievergoeding) in case of termination of the employment agreement after two years of illness.

We will conclude the session by looking ahead to potential developments of Dutch employment law based on, among other things, advice to be presented by the national Committee on the Regulation of Labor (Commissie Regulering van Werk).
