Women in IP Initiative Planning for 2020 Events

Jones Day’s Women in IP initiative addresses the underrepresentation of women in IP law through programming, networking, mentoring, and a dynamic speaker series. Our Women in IP Speaker Series will continue in 2020, expanding on our 2019 programs.

Everything You Wanted to Know About Recent Trademark Challenges, But Were Afraid to Ask. This program, hosted on March 21, 2019 in our Atlanta Office, was an in-depth discussion about current issues and practical solutions in the branding space featuring:

A View From the Top – Bridging the Generational Divide: The ABCs of Gen X, Y, and Z.  This panel discussion, hosted on June 6, 2019 in our New York Office, spoke to the diversity represented by different generations and the unique challenges and opportunities provided in the practice of law, as lawyers work with colleagues who have different perceptions—the result of different generational experiences. What You Need to Know About Trade Secrets and the Recent Rise in Trade Secret Litigation. On October 29, 2019, our Los Angeles Office hosted a collaboration panel with Jones Day’s Women in White Collar Initiative. This moderated panel discussed the recent rise of trade secret litigation and offered practical tips for preventing misappropriation.

Women in the Appellate Courtroom. Panelists gathered in our Washington Office on December 11, 2019, to discuss recent attention that has been drawn to the underrepresentation of female Supreme Court oral advocates and to empirical studies on related issues, such as female advocates' "unequal opportunity" to argue and be heard without interruption. The moderated panel consisted of:
