Jones Day's 2019 Speaker Series - The End Is Near: Are You Prepared for the Cessation of the London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR)?
500 Grant Street, Suite 4500
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15219-2514
8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
The financial markets and regulators expect one of the most important numbers in finance — the London Interbank Offered Rate (LIBOR) — to cease being published at the end of 2021. This expectation has created substantial uncertainty both for the more than $200 trillion in variable-rate assets already in existence and for new transactions being negotiated today. This poses a major problem for everyone — from large banks, asset managers, and Fortune 500 companies to small businesses and retail customers and everyone in between. The general counsel of the New York Federal Reserve Bank has described the cessation as a "DEFCON 1 litigation event." Are you ready? Please join our panel for a discussion of the key legal and regulatory issues that your business, customers, lenders, and counterparties are facing as a result of the expected cessation of LIBOR — and learn how you can prepare.
