TechniCLE Speaking 2018: IGNITE CLE will be a half-day series of small community-wide ideation sessions.
Founded in 2015 as a joint initiative between Cleveland City Council and Jones Day, TechniCLE Speaking is a civic advocacy event conceived in response to recurring concerns about the long-term growth and sustainability of Cleveland’s technology and startup sectors, and their impact on the region’s future economic development. The event fosters dialogue between key stakeholders interested in facilitating the success of startups and high growth companies in Northeast Ohio.
TechniCLE Speaking 2018 is built around the important decisions needed in Cleveland to address the concerns and ambitions of local entrepreneurs and technology companies. This year’s program is based on the findings of an assessment undertaken by global accelerator and venture capital firm, Techstars, who were enlisted by a group of concerned founders and other community stakeholders to conduct an assessment of Cleveland’s startup landscape, rank it against other U.S. cities, and measure it against the benchmarks of a vibrant, sustainable startup community. The analysis covered the critical categories of Culture, Talent, Density, Capital, and Institutional Support. The results of the Techstars assessment were unveiled at a public forum hosted by The City Club of Cleveland on March 13, 2018, and have generated a community wide call to action to ignite change in Cleveland.
TechniCLE Speaking 2018 takes off from there. The program will provide a starting point for those in our community who would like to stand up and raise their hand to connect with one another, to provide their perspective and most importantly, to give their time and effort in leveraging the Techstars assessment results (click here) to generate meaningful change for our startup community. The City Club of Cleveland CEO Dan Moulthrop will moderate.
