Jones Day hosts Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) Awards Luncheon

October 3, 2013

Jones Day hosted and sponsored the 2013 AAJC American Courage Awards Luncheon on October 3, 2013.

Since 1997, Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) has recognized and awarded individuals, companies and organizations of merit in its annual American Courage Awards. This year's American Courage Awards reception featured the presentation of the American Courage Award to Valarie Kaur, founder of Groundswell, for her steadfast commitment to racial and religious justice and equality, the Distinguished Service Award to Representative Barney Frank for his legacy in advocating for and protecting equal rights for all Americans and the Bridge Builder Award to the Nielsen Company in commendation of its outstanding commitment to engaging communities of color and enhancing products and services for ethnic markets.

Through their dedicated service and unwavering commitment to diversity and civil rights, the honorees have advanced justice and equality through research and data collection, advocating for the rights of those most vulnerable in their communities and storytelling. The honorees have inspired others to join the movement as the civil rights of Asian Americans are advanced and a more fair and equitable society for all Americans is promoted.

AAJC is one of the nation's leading experts on issues of importance to the Asian American community including: affirmative action, anti-Asian violence prevention/race relations, census, immigrant rights, immigration, language access, television diversity and voting rights. Our expertise is widely acknowledged: in the media, by the public and lawmakers at the very highest tiers of government.

The mission of AAJC is to advance civil and human rights for Asian Americans and to build and promote a fair and equitable society for all.
