While serving as a law clerk to Judge Michael Boudin (of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit) and Justice Antonin Scalia (of the U.S. Supreme Court), Yaakov gained valuable experience in many areas of the law, especially the First Amendment, administrative law, and statutory interpretation.

Circuits as well as in state appellate courts; worked on dispositive motions in federal district courts across the country; sought and opposed certiorari before the U.S. Supreme Court; and drafted amicus and party briefs for Supreme Court merits cases.  These matters have involved issues ranging from jurisdiction and standing, to employee pension benefits and workers compensation, to RICO and criminal fraud, to First Amendment commercial speech and campaign spending, to the Hatch-Waxman Act and the Federal Arbitration Act.  Representative clients include CBS Corporation, Chevron Corporation, IBM Corporation, General Motors LLC, the National Federation of Independent Business, and ViroPharma Incorporated.
