Walt Kelley is a trial attorney who handles antitrust, intellectual property, and shareholder cases. He joined Jones Day from a seat on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia where he issued more than 50 published opinions and presided over numerous civil and criminal cases. One of Judge Kelley's best known cases was United States v. Benyo, a criminal securities fraud prosecution that resulted in the longest jury trial in E.D. Va. history.

Before taking the bench, Judge Kelley tried more than 25 business cases to verdict as a litigation partner in private practice, where he was included in among The Best Lawyers in America and Virginia Business's ‘Legal Elite.’

In addition to trying cases, Judge Kelley serves as a mediator, arbitrator, and special master. He is a member of The McCammon Group, a prominent mediation firm. The International Trade Commission recently selected Judge Kelley to serve on its inaugural mediation panel for Section 337 (patent infringement) investigations.
