Takashi Tanazawa has more than 20 years of experience in dispute resolution and defends companies in the IT, construction, engineering, life science, automobile, and consumer products industries in product liability, general tort, contract, labor, unfair competition, and consumer matters. In addition to disputes in Japan, he has experience in U.S. civil litigation and international arbitration.

Takashi has been involved in various high-profile cases. He was recently successful in cancelling an arbitral award at the Osaka High Court, in which the court upheld his arguments on behalf of the client. This is only the second instance in which the court has set aside an arbitral award since the new Arbitration Act went into effect in 2003.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Takashi served as a district court judge for seven years, and he uses that experience to craft litigation strategies and minimize litigation risks.

Takashi periodically holds seminars at the OCAJI (Overseas Construction Association of Japan Inc.) for construction and engineering companies on construction contracts and disputes. He also has authored articles on litigation and arbitration.
