Trammell Newton has appeared frequently in antitrust cases in federal and state trial and appellate courts, including the United States Supreme Court, and has assisted clients in dealing with the Federal Trade Commission, the Antitrust Division, and state attorneys general on various regulatory matters. His practice also has involved litigating unfair competition, consumer protection, and dealer protection claims; counseling clients on reducing antitrust risk; conducting internal investigations; and making antitrust compliance presentations.

Trammell's recent civil experience includes the defense of nationwide antitrust class actions in the chemicals, pharmaceuticals, vitamins, airlines, and paper products industries and a consumer fraud class action in the textile business. He also has defended price-fixing claims in the building products business and monopolization claims in the trash-hauling and telecommunications businesses and has done extensive work obtaining approval for or litigating hospital mergers. His criminal experience includes the representation of principal targets of grand jury investigations into the financial services, paper products, real estate brokerage, paving, and tire businesses.

Trammell has utilized his economics background in other complex commercial lawsuits, often dealing with economics-based liability and damages theories, including those presented in cases involving state taxation of banks (resolved in the U.S. Supreme Court), construction contracts, securities fraud, and commodities contracts.

He is a member of the ABA (Antitrust Law Section), the State Bar of Georgia (Antitrust Section), and the bars of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
