Steve Teitelbaum's practice includes all aspects of sales and purchases of land and of office, multifamily, and warehouse projects; negotiations of office and retail leases on behalf of landlords and tenants; and real estate finance. Due to Steve's location in Washington, he has substantial experience in leasing to the United States government and in public/private development projects with government agencies. He is also co-leader of the Firm's hospitality industry specialty practice team and has worked with hotel owners on hotel developments, acquisitions, and sales as well as in negotiating or advising on management and franchise contracts.
As a result of these wide-ranging specialties, Steve has worked with a variety of clients. These include long-time real estate developers and investors on land acquisitions, financings, leasing, and public/private developments with regional and federal agencies. In addition to assisting traditional American investors, he has represented Japanese and German investors in acquiring and selling, financing, and leasing U.S. office buildings.
Steve has also advised national and multinational investors on hotel investments and represented a major regional health care provider in complex transactions involving ground leasing, acquisitions, and sales of portions of hospital campuses. As part of his extensive background in real estate leasing, he has also advised another large law firm and a number of the Firm's clients as tenants in office leasing transactions. Steve handles not only the real estate aspects of transactions, but also works on joint ventures, strategic alliances, and other business combinations.
Steve is a member of the District of Columbia Bar (Real Property Section), the American Planning Association, and the District of Columbia Building Industry Association, where he is the long-time vice chairman of the Programs Committee. He also speaks frequently on real estate-related topics, particularly leasing.
