Steve Geise is a trial lawyer who focuses on defending companies in product liability lawsuits in state and federal courts throughout the country. He has represented the manufacturers of airplanes, cigarettes, elevators, off-road vehicles, pharmaceuticals, and other consumer goods in both individual and class action litigation. In addition, Steve represents clients in general, commercial, and intellectual property litigation matters.
Steve's litigation experience covers issues including false advertising law, unfair competition law, conspiracy, duty to warn, preemption, and market share liability. He represents clients in coordinated complex litigation including multidistrict litigation (MDL) nationally and JCCP actions in California. He works with a wide range of experts including toxicologists, pathologists, epidemiologists, radiologists, forensic psychiatrists, historians, engineers, oncologists, and pulmonologists.
Since 1996, Steve has served as part of the national coordinating counsel team representing R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in complex product liability suits and is currently defending Reynolds in personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits in California, Florida, and New York. He also is actively representing Yamaha Motor Co. in litigation across the U.S. involving the popular Rhino side-by-side vehicle. Recently, he successfully defended Experian Information Solutions in a class action brought under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Steve is the administrative partner of the San Diego Office. He is a member of the State Bar of California and the San Diego County Bar Association. He serves on the board of governors for the local chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers and is a participating alum in the Welsh Chapter of the American Inns of Court.
