Steve Mixter practices in the general real estate area, with a particular emphasis on providing corporate real estate services to companies that are not primarily in the real estate industry but who occupy real estate as a necessary support function for their core businesses. His practice includes handling all aspects of the acquisition, disposition, financing, development, leasing, and exchanging of commercial and industrial real estate. He has been involved in numerous multi-asset transactions for Fortune 500 and other companies. Steve has been involved in several major public/private projects, including significant expansions of airport hub facilities for Continental Airlines at the Cleveland, Newark, and Houston airports, the development of sports facilities such as Gund Arena in Cleveland and the Toyota Center in Houston, and the development of cultural institutions such as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland. He has handled the purchase and sale of interests in extensive fiber-optic telecommunications systems. Steve has represented KeyCorp since 1997 in its corporate real estate matters, including several outsourcings and a resourcing of its corporate real estate functions. He also has represented Roadway Express in its real estate matters, including the acquisition, development, sale, and leasing of hub and satellite truck terminal facilities. The developer clients for whom he acts include Developers Diversified Realty Corporation and Gross Builders. In addition, Steve has significant experience in dealing with the real estate aspects of corporate acquisitions, dispositions, mergers, and bankruptcies and in dealing with the acquisition, disposition, and financing of various types of mineral interests and related facilities.

Steve is the primary author of two articles published in the Journal of Corporate Real Estate: "Selected Insurance and Lease Issues to Consider After the Terrorist Attacks of 11th September, 2001" (September 2002, Vol. 4, Issue No. 4, Pages 310-326) and "An Overview of The Terrorism Risk Insurance Act of 2002" (December 2003, Vol. 6, Issue No. 1, Pages 65-71). The Journal of Corporate Real Estate is an international peer-reviewed, professional journal published out of the United Kingdom in affiliation with CoreNet Global Learning. Steve also has made presentations on those topics at several CoreNet Global and ABA meetings.

Steve is a member of the Cleveland Bar Association (Real Estate Law Section). He is vice chairman of the board of trustees of Youth Opportunities Unlimited, a nonprofit organization that works with at risk youth to help them stay in school, gain job readiness skills, and find employment. Steve also has represented many pro bono clients, including the Cleveland Foodbank in the sale of its headquarters and main distribution facility.
