Sam Estreicher's practice engages a wide range of employment matters, including designing ADR systems, training managers in EEO and labor relations compliance, advising multinational firms on the handling of global benefit plans, labor disputes and staff reductions, and representing companies in EEO and wage-hour class litigation.

 

Sam is also the Opperman Professor of Law at the NYU School of Law, where he directs the Center for Labor and Employment Law and runs NYU's programs for federal judges. He is author of a number of books related to labor law, employment discrimination, employment law, and global human resources management, among others, and more than 100 professional and academic articles. He is the former secretary of the ABA labor section and is the chief reporter of the Restatement Third of Employment Law.

 

Named among the nation's 50 Most Powerful Employment Attorneys by Human Resource Executive, Sam's appellate experience includes a victory before the U.S. Supreme Court in Circuit City v. Adams, which broadened the availability of employment arbitration; overturning a labor interest arbitration award in The Daily News litigation; and extensive amicus representation in the U.S. Supreme Court and courts of appeals for a number of organizations, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and SHRM. Sam is a member of the arbitration/mediation panels of the AAA.

 

Sam's practice also encompasses public international law. He has filed briefs in cases arising under the Alien Tort Statute, including Presbyterian Church v. Talisman Energy, Inc. (in which he appeared in oral argument) and Sosa v. Alvarez-Machain.
