Scott Specht heads up the real estate practice in Jones Day's Atlanta Office and has more than 25 years of experience in the real property area, with emphases on corporate real estate services, real estate secured lending, and real property acquisitions and dispositions. Scott has represented a variety of companies in connection with their facilities needs, including numerous Fortune 500 clients, as well as middle market and privately held companies. His corporate real estate services practice consists primarily of handling the acquisition, disposition, financing, development, and leasing of real property and includes the representation of companies in major build-to-suit and build-to-lease projects. Scott's experience includes portfolio and single asset acquisitions and dispositions with local, regional, and national geographic coverage.
In his real estate secured lending practice, Scott has extensive experience in the representation of regional and national lending institutions, including state and federally chartered banks and thrifts, non-U.S. banks, mortgage companies, originators of real estate secured loans intended for securitization, public and private funds, and government agencies. His practice has involved construction, interim, mezzanine, and permanent lending; asset-based financing; revolving lines of credit; industrial revenue and industrial development bond financing; credit-enhanced financing; off-balance sheet financing; and large syndicated credits. In the course of his lender representation, Scott has gained considerable experience in the loan workout and restructure aspects of real property financing. His institutional lending clients include Key Bank National Association, CIGNA, and MetLife.
Scott also represents a number of development companies active in the apartment, condominium, and hospitality markets.
Scott is a member of the State Bar of Georgia (Real Property Law and Corporate & Banking Law Sections), The Florida Bar (Real Property, Probate & Trust Law Sections), and the Atlanta Bar Association (Real Estate Law and Business and Finance Law Sections). He is listed in Georgia Super Lawyers and in Georgia Trend magazine's "Legal Elite."
