Robert Thomson's practice focuses on commercial disputes in a wide variety of areas including international trade, insurance, banking, commodities, intellectual property, and white-collar crime and fraud. Typically such matters involve complex issues of fact and law, as well as contractual interpretation, and often involve multijurisdictional litigation and cross-border arbitration.

Robert's recent experience includes representing the owners of Banco Delta Asia on issues arising from their alleged business links with North Korea; undertaking factual investigations in Southeast Asia on behalf of a number of defendants in the 9/11 litigation taking place in the United States; advising Mattel on its toy recall litigation and related issues; and advising various private equity funds on legal issues arising from their investments in China and elsewhere.

Robert has extensive practice experience in both Europe and Asia. With respect to his practice in Asia, he has worked on matters involving litigation in the courts of China, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Hong Kong as well arbitrations conducted under the rules of the principal recognised international bodies. He also has significant experience handling disputes in a number of offshore jurisdictions, particularly in the Cayman Islands.
