Oliver Passavant practices in the area of US, German, and international corporate, commercial, energy and securities law. He has served as counsel to US and European companies in numerous transactions, including share and asset acquisitions, mergers, corporate restructurings, joint ventures, technology licenses, and corporate compliance. He has developed in-depth experience in the area of renewable energy for the automotive industry.
Oliver was responsible for major US, German, and international transactions for clients such as Banner Industries, BFGoodrich, Bombardier, Braas & Co. GmbH, Didier-Werke AG, Diebold, E.ON AG, Firestone, Hunting plc, IWKA AG, J.M. Huber Corp., J.M. Smucker Co., Linde AG, Lucent Technologies, Mannesmann AG, Policy Management Systems Corp., Preussag AG, Rhône-Poulenc S.A., SASIB S.A., STERIS Corporation, and The Washington Group. He was counsel to Morrison Knudsen Corp. in its participation in Mitteldeutsche Braunkohlenwerke AG (MIBRAG), one of the largest privatization projects worldwide. During the past years, he has been involved in several other German, US and cross-border energy projects.
He is a member of the American Bar Association (International Law and Practice Section and Business Law Section), the New York State Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, the German-American Chamber of Commerce, the French-American Chamber of Commerce, and the German-American Law Association. Oliver practiced in the Firm's Cleveland Office from 1987 to 1989 and in the Atlanta Office from 1990 to 1993 before transferring to the Frankfurt Office in 1994.
