Firm ranks #1 in M&A for sixth year in a row

In league tables published this month, Jones Day ranked #1 for number of deals worldwide, a position it has held for 21 consecutive quarters.
Jones Day led all law firms in both of Thomson Financial’s league tables based on number of deals completed in 2005, with 536 transactions worldwide (147 more than the second place firm), and 265 completed deals with U.S. targets. The Firm also ranked in the top 10 for deal value in Thomson's worldwide and U.S. completed deals rankings.
In the Bloomberg league tables, which are based on announced transactions, Jones Day maintained its #1 position for number of deals worldwide and for number of deals in the U.S. Bloomberg also ranked the Firm in the top five for deal value in its worldwide and U.S. counsel to principals rankings.
The Firm has maintained the #1 worldwide ranking for number of deals in both the Thomson and Bloomberg tables every quarter since year-end 2000.
Mergerstat, which runs league tables based only on announced deals involving U.S. companies, ranked Jones Day #1 for number of deals and in the top 10 for deal value. The Firm has held the #1 position for number of deals in the Mergerstat rankings for 11 successive quarters.
